Which networks should you sign up for?

The best answer is; as many as you’re willing to keep up with. Most have a unique value or niche when it comes to your brand and building your network. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll start to see the benefits of each and when you should use each of them. I’ll try to point you in the right direction, but much of depends on your audience. Make sure that any network you setup is managed often.

Social Media: Business vs. Personal

Many say that you should keep your personal profiles separate from your business profiles. I disagree. First of all, its much more difficult then it sounds. Often times, your browser will store your profile (even when it’s closed), so the next time you open your browser, you may already be logged in as the wrong profile. So be careful when using public internet stations, and be sure to log out.

Your personal and business profile should work together when starting out. Its much easier to build your network with your friends and family. You may have 400 friends in the first few weeks, where as it could take months to get up to 400 business contacts.

The key is to publish the appropriate content in the right profile. Friends typically want to hear about your good times, accomplishments and funny stories. They typically don’t want here about what you’re selling (not day after day anyway). However, occasionally, you can post content from you personal profile that will cause your friends to engage and share your business profile.
